Sustainable Creating
1-5 p.m. in the Mary Ellen Brandell Volunteer Center

Visual art education major Caylie Riess will be leading participants through a one-of-a-kind sustainable art project to be displayed on campus. Students can come and go as they please to help paint, create, and assemble a Dale Chihuly-inspired art installation out of plastic water bottles. No artistic ability is required, and participants can make their own piece or contribute to a collaborative installation. We ask all participants to come with creative energy and an openness to learning. Attendees can bring their own plastic water bottles if they’d like!

Thursday, April 21

Program Board and CMU Sierra Club
Lorax Moving Showing
7 p.m. at Kelly Shorts Stadium

Program Board and Sierra Club will be hosting a showing of the Lorax in Kelly Shorts Stadium. Everyone attending will be entered in a drawing to win sustainability prizes!

The Center for International Ethics
Peace Flag Raising
12:30 p.m. outside Warriner Hall

Each year, the Peace Flag ("Pro Concordia Labor" flag) is raised at Central Michigan University to connect the story of CMU's 4th President E.C. Warriner's work on International Peace to other important stories of international ethics. Warriner advocated for the celebration of Peace Day (May 18), which was celebrated prior to World War 1. In raising the flag, we hope to harness the moral energy in the international movement of which Warriner was a part, and which continues to this day, to inspire and help us meaningfully connect to each other. The Peace Flag will be raised on Earth Day in 2022 to mark the interconnectedness of the movements for peace and sustainability.

Community of Future Environmental Scientists
Earth Day Campus Clean-up
3-5 p.m. meet-up at Brooks Hall

The Earth and Atmospheric Sciences Department is collaborating in an effort to pick up litter in the apartments and neighborhoods near Central Michigan University’s campus. The goal of this opportunity is to promote learning of the potential impacts of improper disposal of litter and the impacts these practices have on the environment. Saturday, April 23
