We're hiring students for the 2022-2023 academic year to work as campus sustainability coordinators! We have two positions open - one for Facilities Management and one for Central Sustainability.
Both openings are part-time student positions, beginning in the Fall 2022 semester. Student workers are expected to work anywhere between 5-20 hours per week, as determined by their supervisor. In-person work is preferred, although virtual work is possible if necessary.
Both positions are open to all students regardless of study or discipline and job responsibilities are personalized according to a students' skills and interests.
Qualifications:
- Enrolled student at Central Michigan University main campus
- Passionate about sustainability and willing to learn
- Able to work independently with little to no supervision (self-driven)
- Able to follow through on developing projects and resources with minimal instruction

To learn more about these opportunities, current sustainability coordinators will be presenting on Friday, March 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Bovee UC 125 Lakeshore. This will be an informal info session - walk-ins are welcome and snacks will be provided!
Central Sustainability: Campus Sustainability Coordinator
Join an innovative team of change makers committed to developing sustainability practices, advocating for sustainability goals, and engaging in sustainability research. Central Sustainability student workers will facilitate the following annual projects, while having the liberty to pursue new research and projects which suit their interests and skills.
- Support sustainability reporting through completing the AASHE STARS submission
- Coordinate the annual student Earth Week Conference
- Administer an annual sustainability survey
- Maintain stakeholder relations through projects with the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, Citizens Climate Lobby, student groups, and CMU partners
- Maintain the Student Sustainability Leadership Committee
- Be a consistent and responsive sustainability resource for campus and community members

Facilities Management: Campus Sustainability Coordinator

Sustainability student workers will facilitate the following annual projects, while having the liberty to pursue new research and projects which suit their interests and skills.
- Report CMU waste data to the US EPA, Michigan EGLE, National Wildlife Federation, etc.
- Coordinate special electronics recycling, composting, or donation drives for students
- Table at CMU football and basketball games
- Maintain stakeholder relations through projects with the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, student groups, and CMU partners
- Be a consistent and responsive sustainability resource for campus and community members
