  • One or two dressers

*This is a room decorated with personal belongings of the room occupants and does not represent typical CMU residence hall room furnishings.

**The CMU Residence Hall Assembly has found a convenient, affordable way to ensure you have sheets that will fit the extra-long mattresses in our residence halls. The Residence Hall Linens program  www.rhl.org/cmi offers extra-long twin sheets and comforters as well as matching towels and storage items. Proceeds from this program go to the CMU Residence Hall Assembly and are used for programming in the CMU residence halls. For more information please visit the RHL website: www.rhl.org/cmi.

Unless you know all your roommates and what they will be bringing to campus, we suggest you pack conservatively when you first move into your hall. Many students go home over Labor Day weekend and bring back things they have forgotten or decide they need at that time.

Many students choose to rent a loft or futon from www.bedloft.com, the only university approved loft provider. A loft will create additional space to place a futon or other items to make your room feel more like home. These types of lofts are only available for students living in Barnes, Beddow, Calkins, Emmons, Herrig, Larzelere, Merrill, Saxe, Sweeney, Thorpe, Trout and Woldt. Lofts are also available in Carey, Cobb, Troutman and Wheeler halls on a limited basis. Futons are allowed in all halls.

Area rugs are one of the easiest and quickest ways to warm up a room.  The Office of Residence Life has an agreement with College Carpets  www.collegecarpets2u.com to offer a unique program in which students can pre-order an area rug online and have it delivered to his or her room. To view the color selection and sizes available visit their website here. If you are thinking of purchasing an area rug, make sure you place your order before the August 12th deadline. College Carpets will have your order in your room ready to be unrolled when you arrive on campus.

Microwaves and Refrigerators: Bedloft.com also rents approved microwave/refrigerator combination appliances to interested students. A MicroFridge is a combination refrigerator, freezer and microwave, and is the only microwave approved for use in ALL CMU residence halls. MicroFridges can be pre-ordered, and are delivered directly to your room. The Residence Hall Assembly student leadership group receives a portion of all profits which helps support programs and activities for all residence hall students.

Central Michigan University is not responsible or liable for the services and/or actions of bedloft.com, College Carpets, or the Residence Hall Linens organization.

Whatever you end up bringing to CMU, make your residence hall room as unique as you are!
