The Center for Charter Schools has found tremendous value in the University’s new performance management system. The structure allows for goal setting, accountability and continuous improvement while offering the ease of an on-line forum to facilitate dialogue and feedback, further supporting one-on-one conversations. The primary areas evaluated are appropriate across all levels and employee groups and can be easily suited to individual positions and employees. This new structure has brought greater meaning to the performance management process and fosters a focus on achievement.

Talk about the power of conversation!
Working with this new performance conversation model has truly assisted with developing relations with the staff. At University Recreation, not only do we use this model with our full-time staff but with our student staff as well. Having these open discussions has assisted our department in strengthening the CMU Service Values. There is a greater sense of “care” and “availability” but also a culture of where we can hold each other accountable for our actions – “knowledge” and “follow-though”.
