John Danner joined CMU as General Counsel in September 2020. His experience includes serving as Senior Associate Counsel at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) from 2008 to 2020 and as an Assistant City Attorney III for the City of San Antonio from to 1998 to 2008. Prior to that John worked in private practice as a litigator.
John attended the University of Texas at Austin where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from St. Mary's University College of Law where he founded the Longhorn Bar Association. John also attended the Institute of World Legal Problems at the University of Innsbruck, Austria where he took a course instructed by Supreme Court Justice Scalia.
During the past twenty-five years as an attorney he has become an expert in numerous areas of the law, including Higher Education Law, Constitutional Law, Employment Law, Anti-discrimination Law, Civil Rights, ADA. John was the Ethics Compliance Officer, Public Information Officer and Record Retention Officer for both UTSA and the City of San Antonio.
In his free time, John enjoys numerous activities including traveling, cooking, hiking, boating, reading and spending time with his family.
Andrew W. Brockman joined CMU as Assistant General Counsel in August 2019. Prior to joining CMU, he was employed at Janes & Backus PC in downtown Mt. Pleasant, practicing in a variety of areas of law including contracts, real estate, criminal defense, estate planning, and family law. Throughout law school, Andrew clerked for the Office of General Counsel as well.
Andrew received a Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law in 2017. He was admitted to practice law in the state of Michigan on October 31, 2017. While at Michigan State, he served as an editor for the International Law Review. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University in 2014.
Andrew currently serves as the Governance committee chair on the Mt. Pleasant Public Education Foundation Board of Directors and is Vice President of the People Helping People of Mt. Pleasant Board of Directors. When he is not working, Andrew enjoys spending time with his wife and children. He loves to golf and enjoys attending community and sporting events.
